The Road Less Traveled Traditional Cache

This is a quick park and grab, near the entrance of the village of Prairie du Rocher. The container holds small trading items, and is not far off the road.
Settled in 1722, Prairie du Rocher was established before Illinois became a state, and will celebrate it's 300th anniversary in 2022. This cache was chosen to recognize the entrance of the village and the many people who have traveled down the tree-lined hill to visit this historic place. The current road leading into town has only been in place since the 1950s. Before that, visitors traveled down an unpaved road through the bluffs, eventually meeting what has now become the modern route.
