Take note of what you need to bring along for the hike you choose. @Safetymountain will be informed of all our hikes, and will assist in case of any unforseen situation. Every Hike leader will have a first aid kit with him/her as well. Please log your will attend in advance.

The Pipe Track is an easy, gentle walk with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Lions Head. It runs along the Camps Bay side of Table Mountain and is a relatively flat gravel track that can be enjoyed by young and old. The waterpipe you will see all along the path was built in 1887, and used to supply the City with water from dams on top of Table Mountain. Near the start of the trail you will pass the Blockhouse aqueduct, named after the abode of a garrison of French soldiers working for the Dutch East India Company, which was built in about 1780 to protect the route over Kloof Nek. Later on you will pass ravines and gullies, some with quaint names like Blinkwater and Slangolie. You will also learn about a fascinating young man called Joshua Penny, and his adventures on this mountain.
