Geocache Description:

Brevens bruk was established in 1676 but the city's history is much older than that. Breven, which the city was called until 1965, first mentioned in 1317 when it was written "Bredhæhueen". In Brevens bruk has pursued iron industry since the first bar iron hammer privileged in the 1670s. A mechanical workshop and a foundry were created during the 1800s. When the blast furnace was blown down in 1933 focus was on use of foundry business. The production consisted of everything from memorial crosses, garden urns and trailer axles to cogwheels, coffee mills and water turbines. Parts of what has been cast here in Brevens bruk can be seen in the church that was built during the years 1840-42. The church is located near the starting point of this Wherigo. The details of both the church and the cemetery bear witness various cast iron parts from the iron production such as church window, tower balustrade, columns and lintel around the door and the door of the church.
