Geocache Description:

This area is a naturalist's dream, and maybe one of the best-kept secrets in Waukesha County! The UW Waukesha Field Station is a great place to hike, with trails, a pond, a stream, and lots of different forest types. The entrance is also labeled as the "Wildlife in Need" Center.

Park in the visitor's entrance. Begin your hike by taking the trail past the building (to the right of the parking area). You'll pass a prairie, filled with lots of native wildflowers and grasses. Continue on the trail past the caretaker's house and garden, down the hill. At the bottom of the hill, on the right, you'll see the large kiln used by UW students enrolled in pottery and ceramics classes. Before you hit the stream is a trail to the right: take this path. Continue to follow this trail through forests, passing the largest Oak in the area. Enjoy the flora and fauna, and let your GPS lead you to the geocache to find out what else grows here! A stamp, a pad, and several trinkets are hidden inside. Happy hunting! Note: I have the permission of the caretaker of the Field Station, Teresa Scheuller, to place the geocache on the premises.
