Geocache Description:

Un beau chêne centenaire et arbre remarquable !

----

A beautiful hundred-year-old oak, a remarkable tree !

------

Red oaks originate from the East of North America. In France, people started introducing them by the end of the 17th century, as ornamental plants (their foliage is beautiful in the autumn).

This peculiar tree is more than a hundred years old. In 2002, it was 30 meters high and its diameter reached 103 centimeters at Breast Height.

In 1999, a devastating storm hit all of France. The Vosges were especially struck and lost a lot of trees, but this one was spared. It was then given the label "arbre remarquable" (remarkable tree), and the town of Harsault decided to highlight it.

------

Coming from Harsault: from the logging road, turn left in the woods when you see this stump.

Then, follow the red marks on approximately 30 meters.
