This cache celebrates Isleham station on the Cambridge to Mildenhall line (Great Eastern Railway). Although the station no longer functions, the station building does still survive, but is now a private dwelling on private land. Near where the station once stood all the track bed has been filled in. The cache is a camouflaged PET tube. It is hidden near where the line came through from the Cambridge direction towards Isleham and where the old track bed is now part of a Nature Reserve. The remains of the track bed can clearly be seen as a public footpath which follows the original track line.
The nearby Nature Reserve is even named after the Isleham Railway!
Isleham Station was opened on 1 April 1885 and one of the fascinating features of the station is that it (and Mildenhall Station as well) looked identical to the station at Burwell. This old image shows the main station building when it was still a station
This map shows Isleham Station between Fordham Station and Worlington Golf Links Halt
