Geocache Description:

An insight of the famous french singer and songwriter Jean Ferrat's first home in Ivry sur Seine.

English:

Jean Ferrat, french singer and songwriter, born 30th december 1930 in Vaucresson (former Seine et Oise) and died 13th march, 2010 in Aubenas (Ardèche) is intimely related to Ivry sur Seine, a city where he spent over four decades of his life. In october 1960, he and his partner, Christine, moved in a tiny flat located on 129 rue de Paris (later renamed avenue Maurice Thorez). Several 1960s' TV shows and interviews of the singer have been held in that building, including this archive footage taken from an RTF show called "Au delà de l'écran" ("Beyond the screen"), aired on march 15h, 1964, A pleasant step back in time which gives us a glimpse of the way the district looked like back in the 1960s. A faithful inhabitant of the "Petit-Ivry" area, Jean Ferrat moved out only to relocate a few blocks away from his initial place of residence, settling in a wider flat on Baudin's street.

While you're in the area, you may enjoy a walk in the "Promenade des Petits-Bois". There's a path underneath building number 127 which leads to this small and quiet park. Take some time to walk down the former "rue de Paris" (now "avenue Maurice Thorez"), where part of the epic manhunt to catch the infamous gangster Jules Bonnot took place in 1912. Keep walking until you reach "place Jean Ferrat", and have a look at Ivry's windmill.

Watch out, there are a lot of muggles passing by during the day, please remain discreet while looking for the cache. Also, you can reach the cache from the pavement/sidewalk, thus, no need to get on the small "bridge" that leads to the building.
