Figura Matki Boskiej z dzieciątkiem stoi na Boernerowie od roku 1936. Pomnik przetrwał II wojnę światową w całości, ale nie bez uszczerbku, jak można to przeczytać w Internecie.
Rzeźba projektu Jana Golińskiego (1894-1967) miała pierwotnie być elementem zwieńczającym pomnik Zjednoczenia Ziem Polskich w Gdyni zgłoszonego na konkurs w 1928 roku. Pomnik miał mieć formę i funkcję latarni morskiej (symbol 10 lat od odzyskania niepodległości przez Polskę), wielopiętrową, dodatkowo z tarasem widokowym. Autor projektu otrzymał 2 miejsce w konkursie (na 76 nadesłanych prac). Ostatecznie pomnik w Gdyni nie powstał z braku pieniędzy, a rzeźbą zainteresowało się Ministerstwo Poczt i Telegrafów. Ufundowało ono tą kapliczkę dla mieszkańców Boernerowa w roku ukończenia budowy osiedla dla pracowników łączności. Rzeźbę w stylu art deco wykonano z brązu i ustawiono na cokole obłożonym płytami z piaskowca. Dodatkowo cokół nawiązuje swoją formą do modnej w tym czasie architektury modernistycznej w stylu okrętowym – stąd obłe kształty i relingi.
Otoczenie pomnika zmieniło się od czasu jego postawienia. Przed pomnikiem leżą dwa kamienie upamiętniające walki powstańców warszawskich, przeniesione tu po wojnie z terenu lotniska Warszawa Babice. Walki te odbywały się w zupełnie innym miejscu, pokrytym dziś betonową płytą lotniska przy drodze łączącej fort Wawrzyszew z fortem Blizne.

Statue of Virgin Mary with the Child stands on Boernerowo since 1936. Monument survived 2nd World War almost intact, but not without scars, as you can read it on the Internet.
Sculpture designed by Jan Goliński (1894-1967) was originally to be part of monument of Union of Polish Lands in Gdynia submitted to the contest in 1928. Monument project have the form and function of the lighthouse (the symbol of 10 years of independence of Poland), multi-storey, in addition with the terrace. The author of the project received 2nd place in the competition (at the 76 submitted works). Finally monument in Gdynia did not arise from a lack of money, and sculpture became interested by the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs. The monument for the residents of Boernerowo was founded in the completion of construction of the housing for communication employees. Sculpture in the Art Deco style made of bronze and placed on a pedestal made of slabs of sandstone. In addition to its base it refers to a form of fashionable at that time of modernist architecture in the style of ship - hence the rounded shapes and rails.
Surrounding of the monument changed since 1936. Before the monument are two stones commemorating the fighting during Warsaw Uprising , which were moved here after the war from the area of Warsaw Babice airport. Fights were held in a different place, now covered with a concrete on the old road between fort Wawrzyszew and fort Blizne.
