Hills Crossing has been a summertime cool off spot for the locals of pine mountain for many years. While the river is decent walk down from parking for most cars, a competent 4WD'er can go all the way down to the river.
Known for having a good depth, steady current & rope swing, this part of the river was always busy on hot summer days and has even seen its fair share of campers. With the 2011 & 2013 floods, the river bed was decimated and is barely recognisable to what it once was as most of the surrounding treeline was nocked over and swept down stream, though it is still good for a cool off. All the river rocks that were washed up along with the floods "tree clearing" has resulted in a fun area to take your 4WD for a spin.
