“Molly, you certainly are feeling your oats tonight.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means you’re full of energy, and prancing around like you’ve just eaten a bunch of oats.”
“But I don’t like oatmeal.”
“That’s true, but you know who does like oats? Gallop.”
“Gallop doesn’t like oatmeal either.”
“Not oatmeal, Princess – oats. It’s like oatmeal before you cook it.”
“Raw oatmeal?”
“Here – come sit over here and stop horsing around, and I’ll tell you a story about Gallop. Then you can get ready for bed.”
“Do I have to?”
“No, you don’t have to listen to the story first. If you’d rather you can just get ready for bed right now.”
“I think I’ll listen to a story first, please.”
“Well – I think that was a very wise decision.”
