Being set in an aspen forest this area was originally developed as a Provincial Park. In May of 1998, Hasse Lake Day Use Area’s ownership was transferred to Parkland County.
Boasting a sandy beach, boat launch, pier, 3 km of trail, picnic tables and fire pits, the park is an ideal destination for families and dog owners. If you’re lucky, you may even be able to net a three-spine stickleback. In the 1980’s, Hasse Lake was the first place in North America’s interior plains where this type of fish was found. To date, the source of this introduced population is unknown.
For all the birdwatchers, there is an island in the centre of the lake that is typically covered in birds ranging from pelicans, gulls, sandpipers and other shorebirds.
This geocache was part of the Parkland County GeoTour – Series 1 which has now ended.
