Quando nel 1489 si decise a trasferirsi definitivamente nei pressi dei Frari, la Scuola Grande di San Rocco, decise di erigere una chiesa da dedicare al loro santo titolare.
Non si sa chi ne fu l'architetto, ma tradizionalmente è attribuita al Bon.
I lavori vennero finiti in tempi rapidi e l'edificio venne inaugurato nel 1494, anche se l'erezione della cupola non avvenne prima del 1507.
La chiesa era a navata unica con un presbiterio absidato e cupolato affiancato da due cappelle laterali. La facciata era di tipo codussiano, lungo la trabeazione correva l'iscrizione “SU(M)MO ET EXCELSO DEO DEVOTA, H(A)EC SCOLA PIE VIVIT ET SANCTO ROCHO HIC IACENTI EIUS PATRONO MCCCCLXXXXIIII”.

La Storia
A partire dal 1726 la chiesa venne ristrutturata completamente da Giovanni Antonio Scalfarotto, che conservò le vecchie absidi e la cupola. Tra il 1765 e il 1771 Bernardino Maccaruzzi riedificò interamente la facciata proponendo un modello simile alla facciata della vicina Scuola Grande. Dell'edificio costruito dal Bon si può vedere ancora il vecchio portale ed il rosone che guardano alla Scuola, oltre alla cappella maggiore e alle due laterali.

La facciata è decorata con statue di Giovanni Marchiori. Da sinistra: Gerardo di Csanád e Gregorio Barbarigo; il lato destro, Lorenzo Giustiniani e Pietro Orseolo. Al centro sopra la porta: San Rocco risana gli appestati di Giovanni Maria Morlaiter.

When in 1489 he decided to move permanently near the Frari, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco decided to erect a church dedicated to their patron saint.
We do not know who was the architect, but traditionally is attributed to Bon.
The work was finished quickly and the building was inaugurated in 1494, although the erection of the dome did not happen before 1507. The church had a nave with a presbytery apse and cupola flanked by two side chapels.
The facade was kind "codussiano! along the entablature ran the inscription "SU (M) MO ET EXCELSO DEO DEVOTA, H (A) EC SCOLA PIE VIVIT ET SANCTO Rocho HIC IACENTI EIUS PATRON MCCCCLXXXXIIII".

The History
Starting from 1726 the church was completely renovated by Giovanni Antonio Scalfarotto, who preserved the old apse and dome.
Between 1765 and 1771 Bernardino Maccaruzzi rebuilt entirely lafacciata proposing a similar model to the nearby Scuola Grande facade. The building built by Bon you can still see the old portal and rose, which look to the school, in addition to the main chapel and two side.
