What is the CITO?

Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocacher community. The first steps in this area were taken in 2002 and since then Geochacing have already promoted more than 11,000 CITO's that mobilized about 240,000 geocachers.
In this event, we will plant a tree in one of the most historical places of Lisbon - The Severa Square. Located in a neighborhood called Mouraria, Severa Square honors Maria Severa Onofriana, a Lisbon singer considered the mother of Fado in the city. It is said that she sang in all popular districts of Lisbon, and that her voice enlivened the nights of many neighborhoods, bars, taverns and houses of Fado. Currently, the Severa Square is in Rua do Capelão, where the house of the fado singer is marked as Severa House. On the floor, paved with portuguese sidewalk, you can see the design of a portuguese guitar. On the front of the house is placed a plaque where you can read: "In this house lived Maria Severa Onofriana / Considered at her time the sublime expression of Fado / Died on November 30th 1846, at 26 years of age / Lisbon, 3-6-1989 ".

Event Schedule

We will meet at 5:30 p.m. in Severa Square, where we'll plant a tree that will make Lisbon greener.
All Geocachers will be welcomed and you won't need to bring any material.
This event is organized by GeoEventosPT and is included in the activities of the Mega Event Lisbon AdvenTour 2017.
