A dozen Geo-caches placed along the St. Jones River Greenway with a few of them well off the paved trail on a natural path that meanders around some of the lowlands. You may see deer, ducks and geese along the way and see some sights you never knew existed.
If a looong walk is what you desire, park at either end of the trail and walk the length and back. That will give you a solid 7 mile walk if you get all the caches in the series. The other option is to go half way in and back from each end of the trail. Either one you choose, it is a great place to visit and get a few caches in the process. Bring your own pen.
St. Jones River Greenway
The St. Jones River Greenway is a planned 14-mile long river-side pathway linking the Greater Dover, Central Kent County area to the Delaware Bay. The Greenway will connect isolated residential communities, the City of Dover and recreation areas along the St. Jones River. Kent County residents will have access to a pathway designed for pedestrians and bicyclists; providing a choice of a non-vehicular means of commuting to work, accessing services and visiting family and friends. The greenway will also offer recreational, natural resource, cultural, and educational experiences.
The 3-mile long Isaac Segment is a major step towards realizing the vision of the St. Jones River Greenway Commission. The Isaac Segment consists of two phases. Phase I begins here at the existing path and pedestrian bridge on Public Safety Boulevard, continues behind the Softball Field at the back of the DelDOT Campus, meanders through the woodland, passes under the SR1 Puncheon Run Connector Bridge, runs between the Connector and Capital Park to Bay Road, terminating at Presidents Drive. Phase II crosses Presidents Drive and continues south between the SR1 roadway and a major wetland creation site, terminating at Route 10 at a signalized intersection.
