Geocache Description:

The Kent Historical Museum occupies this beautiful home which was built in 1908 by Emil Bereiter for his family. It is constructed in American four-square style, and the house originally sat on 3 acres of land. Emil Bereiter was Mayor of Kent for two years, and his historical connection to Kent through his sawmill was one of the reasons this home was chosen for their museum. It was acquired by Kent in 1996, and it was designated a Kent Landmark in 2008.

PLEASE NOTE: PLEASE SEARCH ONLY DURING HOURS THE MUSEUM IS OPEN. The Greater Kent Historical Society operates this museum and is open Wednesday through Saturday from Noon to 4:00 p.m. There is no admission fee for entrance to the museum, but donations are gladly accepted. Please take the time to go in and look at the beautiful exhibits and furnishings of the museum. A staff of volunteers rotate working at the museum, and we have always found them to be helpful and very pleasant. If you found the original cache at this location, you should have no trouble finding this cache. There is no need to search in any landscaping or remove any part of the structure to find this cache. Yes, this cache is wheelchair accessible. Again, please search only during hours that the museum is open. Some of the staff are very aware of the cache being on site, but all of them are not so informed, so please do not approach any of them for any assistance in finding this cache. The cache is considered a micro, so please bring a pen to sign the log. This cache is placed with permission of the Greater Kent Historical Society.

Also to be noted are the beautiful grounds of this museum. A Blue Star Memorial By-Way marker was dedicated on September 27, 2006. It is the only Blue Star Memorial and gathering place in this area to recognize all past, present and future veterans who serve or have served in the various branches of the United States Armed Forces. The Eastbrook Garden Club maintains this portion of the gardens and the marker.

Please note that parking is at the rear of the museum on East Temperence Street. See coordinates.

CONGRATULATIONS to Terrible Ts for the FTF within 20 minutes of publishing this cache!!!
