This cache is located in Stambridge, Essex.
Stambridge is a civil parish in the Rochford District of Essex. The name 'Stambridge' means 'Stone bridge', after Old English stān (stone /rock) and brycg (bridge). The only bridge in the parish is now brick-built over the small stream that rises in Canewdon, flows under the road just south of the pub, and into the Roach near "Waldens". Over the years, the centre of population of Stambridge has moved from around the church to the local pub area.
This cache is a trial to see how well the container will do. It's in an extremely obvious place, but this is a very quiet area. We shall see!
If anybody would like to expand the Village Sign Series, please do. I would ask that you let Smokeypugs know first at www.villagesignseries.co.uk so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication.
