UPDATE: Snow is forecast on Saturday. The Rec District has cancelled the cleanup and free breakfast, but we will still go ahead and clean up what we can. If the weather is too bad to do any cleanup we will just adjourn to IHOP, drink coffee, and talk about CITO. At least we will be able to claim the CITO souvenir.
The Cañon City Parks and Recreation District is conducting a cleanup on the Arkansas Riverwalk on April 29, 2017. The Rec District has agreed to let the Geocaching community be a part of this effort. There will be non-cachers in attendance, and this will be a great opportunity to explain to them what our sport is all about. We will have a couple of tables reserved for cachers.
Meet at the Cañon City Recreation District main office, 575 Ash Street in Cañon City. Look for the table with the geocaching sign on it. The Rec District is offering a free breakfast for participants from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, and the cleanup will run from 9:00 to noon. Let's show the Rec District that we appreciate being able to cache along the Arkansas Riverwalk. The Rec District will supply trash bags. Bring your own work gloves and wear appropriate clothing. Also bring sunscreen and insect repellent. And come hungry!
There will be a drawing at the conclusion of the event for a CITO geocoin. There should be ample time during breakfast to swap and discover trackables.
