Soaring with Dustin Traditional Cache

This cache is dedicated to dtd_dynamite who is probably our most widely-traveled team member. When he is not geocaching, his job or vacation has him flying off to many different places – Ontario, Quebec, New York, Washington DC, Florida, Alaska, Texas, Mexico, France, UK, India, Uganda and more – so this area is a rather appropriate spot to hide his cache.

This green, semi-manicured field on the west side of Deer Lake is home base for the Oakalla Hawks Remote Controlled Glider Club. The wide-open space allows for the unobstructed use of unpowered gliders. On weekends you might catch a glimpse of a sailplane soaring with an eagle or maybe a red-tailed hawk.

As you can see, the Club has minimal facilities here, which is likely why they are permitted use of the field. This means there is almost no suitable place to hide a cache container, but inspiration led to innovation and the hide was made. The cache you seek is well camouflaged and it could be tricky to retrieve if there are lots of folks watching the sailplanes.
