Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of multicaches celebrating the legends and history of the Welsh coastline, set up with help from Visit Wales as part of their 2017 "Year of Legends".

The coordinates listed are for the first micro cache in a small series leading to a larger container. Each cache contains the coordinates for the next one in the British National Grid (BNG) system used on Ordnance Survey maps.

Placed with the kind permission of the National Trust.

Captain Vivian Hewitt was a wealthy eccentric with a great interest in birds. He created the lagoon in Cemlyn Bay, and he also wanted to encourage smaller birds to a woodland area at Bryn Aber. He began to build the double walls here as both a wind break and a bird 'hide' - there are viewing holes in the inner wall. He was also the first man to fly to Ireland from Wales in 1912. The area is managed as a nature reserve by the National Trust.

Capten Vivian Hewitt yn ecsentrig cyfoethog sydd â diddordeb mawr mewn adar. Creodd y morlyn ym Mae Cemlyn, ac mae hefyd yn awyddus i annog adar llai i ardal goetir ym Mryn Aber. Dechreuodd adeiladu waliau dwbl yma gan fod y ddau rhag y gwynt ac yn 'guddfan' adar - mae gwylio tyllau yn y wal fewnol. Ef hefyd oedd y dyn cyntaf i hedfan i Iwerddon o Gymru yn 1912. Mae'r ardal yn cael ei reoli fel gwarchodfa natur gan yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol.
