Geocache Description:

Watch for snakes!

Established in 2012 by Conservation Collier, the Caracara Prairie Preserve is 367.7 acres of prairie/pasture, depression marshes and pine flatwoods. The red trail (MAP) will take you throughout each where you will have the opportunity to find 12 physical caches. During your exploration you may come across cattle in the preserve as well as a variety of wildlife including Sandhill Cranes and Crested Caracaras (AKA Mexican Eagles). The preserve is open to hunting several times a year. Please check Conservation Collier's website for more INFO.

Please be aware that there are dangers at The Caracara Trail, such as pigmy rattlers, that like to curl up at the bases of trees and under loose leaves. Also, you never know what could be in a tree crevice, like bees, which could come in after the cache has been placed. It’s a good idea to use a stick to poke under and around things.
