Piecing Together the Past is a program that takes participants on a geocaching hunt of 12 historic sites in Scranton, PA. Each cache contains a puzzle piece unique to that particular site. Geocachers request an empty puzzle tray from the Steamtown NHS Fee Booth between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm (winter hours 10:00am-4:00pm). When your puzzle is complete, simply return to the fee booth and show your puzzle to the park ranger to receive a small prize (while supplies last!).
At the Lackawanna County Electric City Trolley Museum, visitors may purchase tickets and climb aboard an antique trolley for a 10-mile round-trip over Roaring Brook, through a mile long tunnel, to PNC Field on Montage Mountain. Then visit the Electric City Trolley Station and Museum, featuring in-depth historical and interactive exhibits including a special room for children! Located on the Steamtown National Historic Site, the Electric City Trolley Station and Museum is open year-round from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Trolley excursions run May through October. May through September, enjoy trolley/baseball excursions to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders games at PNC Field. In October, bring the children to our Halloween Party and during the holidays, give them a special treat with Santa on the Trolley.
