Origem: Wikipédia, a enciclopédia livre.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Swamp is a flat area of abundant herbaceous and / or shrub vegetation that remains much of the time flooded. Swamps generally occur in areas where water runoff is slow. In this way, the organic mass present in the water decomposes on the site.

The term "swamp" originated from the name of a lake of Apulia, in Italy, called Pantanu (currently, the lake is called Lesina).

They are synonymous or almost synonymous with swamp: heath, marnel, palude, paul, marsh, mire, tremedal, swamp, marshland, swamp, mangrove, mangrove, mangrove, mangrove, etc.
