Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the Monroe County Forever Green Geocaching Challenge's HJP Region.

Look for the clues inside these 3 caches: The Old Mill at Sciota; Conklin Park; Tannersville Cranberry Bog Weiss Tract, to determine the coordinates for the HJP Region Mystery Bonus Cache!

As you park at the historic Old Mill on Business Route 209, just outside of the village of Sciota, please realize that this stone structure isn't the original, but was built in 1800 on the site of the original Brinker's Mill, a log structure. The site assumed prominence in 1779, when the Sullivan Expedition was dispatched by Gen. Washington to undertake a scorched earth removal of the British allied Iroquois from the Finger Lakes Region. The Expedition left Easton, PA on June 18, and shortly thereafter encamped near the mill, which served as a storehouse and advance post for this unit of some 4,000 men. Walk to the property north of the mill, which was preserved by Hamilton Township in order to protect and conserve this significant historic resource from development pressures. Enjoy the view of the waterfall and the downstream gorge!

Don't forget your prize for completing all of the caches in this region! And if you're the FTF (First To Find) don't forget your Monroe County Rocks rock!
