Wandertag - Eifelsteig #09 Multi-Cache

Der Eifelsteig ist ein Wanderweg, der auf 15 Etappen und 313km durch die Eifel von Aachen-Kornelimünster bis nach Trier führt.

Etappe 09
Diese Etappe führ euch von Hillesheim bis nach Gerolstein. Die Etappe bietet zahlreiche Höhepunkte. Gleich zu Beginn gibt es die historische Hillesheimer Stadtmauer zu besichtigen. Nach dem idyllischen Bolsdorfer Tälchen folgt der Aufstieg zu den Eis- und Mühlsteinhöhlen und dem Aussichtspunkt Rother Kopf. Von hier aus kann man bereits einen ersten Blick auf die Gerolsteine Dolomiten werfen, die gegen Schluss der Etappe mit der Buchenlochhöhle und dem Vulkankrater Papenkaule noch weitere Höhepunkte bieten.

Die Etappe selbst ist 21 km lang (Aufstieg: 455 m, Abstieg: 520). Da der Bahnhof Hillesheim außerhalb der Stadt in Oberbettingen liegt, sind es von Bahnhof zu Bahnhof 24 km. Wir haben den Track entsprechend angepasst:

Die Züge fahren stündlich vom Bahnhof Gerolstein zurück. Die Bahnhöfe sowie Parkplätze an Start- und Zielort sind als zusätzliche Wegpunkte angegeben.

Cache
Die Wegpunkte zum Cache sind bereits vorgegeben und einfach zu finden. Falls ihr Probleme habt, oder sich etwas geändert haben sollte, ist euer Feedback und ein neues Foto sehr willkommen.

Stage 09
The 9th stage of the Eifelsteig leads from Hillesheim to Gerolstein and is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Eifelsteig Trail. This day tour starts in Hillesheim – its well-preserved ramparts and the historical town centre in Hillesheim are especially worth a visit. The trail continues on to the Eishöhle and Mühlsteinhöhle caves in Roth before reaching the once mighty reef of the Gerolstein Dolomites. The Munterley plateau affords a magnificent view of Gerolstein, the City of Fountains, and the Kyll Valley. Passing the Buchenloch Cave and the Papenkaul Crater, the last section of this stage leads under the Hustley climbing rocks to Gerolstein.

The walk itself is 21 km long. The railway-station at Hillesheim is located outside the city, therefore from station to station it's about 24 km (Ascent: 455 m, Descent: 520 m). Download the track here:

Cache
The waypoints for the cache are given. You do not have to calculate anything during your hike. All points should be easy to find.
