During the moon's roughly 28 day orbit around the earth, there are 2 phases where you can observe a half moon. The cycle starts at the new moon when nothing is visible and waxes (more moon becomes visible) to the first quarter which is the half moon. As the orbit continues we reach the full moon. Then the visible portion of the moon wanes (less moon becomes visible) until the third quarter is reached. This is the second half moon of the cycle.
There is nearby business whose name was inspired by the owner's love of moonlit nights. Permission to place the cache was granted by the corporate office and the local manager is aware.
