Moltkeblick (8133 ft / 2479 m) is the second highest mountain in Namibia, southwest of Auas Range.
This cache is hidden at summit of the Auasberge (Moltkeblick). You can choose different routes to reach the top. The most easy route is from north via River Crossing Lodge. We used the shortest way to get there via Farm Aris from the south. Driving from Windhoek B1 approx. 25km south. The Main Gate is opposite the Agricultural Training Centre. You should have permission to enter the farm (phone +264 61 257 106). From there you drive 14 km on farm pads close to the mountain. You will pass several gates and two cattle posts. Parking next to the farm pad should be save because it is private land and quite remote. From here you start hiking 3 km to the summit an back. For this predicted 5 hour hike (400m up and 400m down) you need enough water and some snacks. You have to walk on uneven ground with loose stones, there is no prepared hiking trail. Ankle-high trekking shoes are recommended. Don't forget sun protection. You will see a lot of beautiful herbs and depend on the rain season more or less grass along your way. What looks so beautiful make walking harder. On half way up some more agile climbers will watch you. Now you follow the tracks of Mountain Zebras and you can see Rock Dassies. Close to the summit you cross a farm fence.
The cache is close to the summit register (not more than 2 meter). It's an mini cache prepared with a magnet. The cache contains a log book and a toy (thumbnail size) only. You are welcome to swap the toy. A pencil you will find in the summit register box.
