Arrête-moi si tu peux (Catch me if you can) est un film américain réalisé par Steven Spielberg et diffusé sur grand écran en 2002. On y relate l'histoire abracadabrante d'un jeune garçon, Frank Abagnale (interprété par le fantastique Léonardo DiCaprio), bouleversé par l'infidélité de sa mère et par la médiocrité de son père. Il réussira de façon audacieuse à usurper l'identité de plusieurs personnes et ainsi frauder le fisc américain pour plusieurs millions de dollars. Durant le film, il aura réussi, sans avoir fait aucune étude, à se faire passer pour un pilote de ligne, un médecin et même un avocat. Parallèlement aux crimes commis par notre héros, c'est l'agent Carl Hanratty (joué par l'excellant Tom Hanks) qui est chargé par le FBI pour mettre la main au collet de Frank . Le titre du film est bien choisi car Frank réussira à plusieurs reprises, in-extremis, à s'extirper des griffes du policier tenace.
Quoi qu'en disent le titre de cette cache et de son préambule, voici où je veux en venir: Selon le site allocine Arrête moi si tu peux a été tourné en 56 jours et dans 140 décors différents. C'est l'un de ses décors que je veux mettre de l'avant grâce à cette cache virtuelle. Arrivé au PZ, vous vous trouverez à Place Royale, qui est située dans l'arrondissement historique du vieux Québec dont l'UNESCO a inscris dans le Patrimoine Mondial en 1985 (Arrondissement historique du Vieux-Québec). La Place Royale est considérée comme étant le plus ancien site français en Amérique. C'est Samuel de Champlain, fondateur de la ville de Québec, qui y a lancé la construction d'un poste fortifié en 1608, constituant ainsi la première habitation de Québec. Les bâtiments servaient, entre autre, à faire du commerce avec les Amérindiens.
De 1687 à 1723 une construction fabuleuse est édifiée: celle de l'Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, la plus vieille église en pierre d'Amérique du Nord. Détruite par les bombardements de la basse-ville par les Britanniques en août 1759, qui est une prémisse à la victoire britannique sur les français et la fin du régime français en Amérique en septembre 1759, elle sera reconstruite et renaîtra de ses cendres (1766). En 1929, l'église est classée monument historique et sera désignée lieu historique national par le Gouvernement du Canada en 1988.
C'est sans doute le caractère très européen de l'église (et de la Place Royale) qui a fait en sorte que le réalisateur Steven Spielberg a choisi d'y tourner une scène cruciale. En effet, la mère de notre héros Frank Abagnale, est d'origine française. Ainsi, durant sa fuite, écoutant peut-être ses vieux instincts, Frank se réfugiera en France. Lieu où, vous aurez deviné, il se fera prendre.
Pourquoi notre ami Spielberg a choisi de tourner la scène où Frank se fait coincer ici à Québec plutôt qu'en France? Les hypothèses sont nombreuses, mais ce pourrait-il que ça ne soit aussi simple que parce que l'église est majestueuse et plus représentative de l'Europe que la France elle-même? Je vous laisse faire votre propre idée à ce sujet!

Catch me if you can is an American film directed by Steven Spielberg released in 2002. It tells the incredible story of a young boy, Frank Abagnale (played by the amazing Léonardo DiCaprio), overwhelmed by the infidelity of his mother and the mediocrity of his father. He will boldly succeed in usurping the identity of several people and thus defraud the US tax office for several million dollars. During the film, he was able to impersonated an airline pilot, a doctor and even an attorney without having any diploma. It is Agent Carl Hanratty (played by the excellent Tom Hanks) who is instructed by the FBI to get his hands on Frank's collar. The title of the film is well chosen because Frank will succeed several times, in-extremis, to extricate himself from the clutches of the tenacious policeman.
Despite the title of this cache and its says, here is the true subject of this cache: According to the site allocine Stop me if you can has been shot in 56 days and in 140 different sets. It is one of its locations that I want to put forward, thanks to this virtual cache. Arriving at the GZ, you will find Place Royale, which is located in the historical district of Old Québec, which UNESCO has inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1985 (Historic District of Old Québec). The Place Royale is considered to be the oldest French site in America. It was Samuel de Champlain, founder of Quebec City, who launched the construction of this fortified post in 1608, thus constituting the first habitation of Quebec. The buildings served, among other things, to trade with the Amerindians. From 1687 to 1723, a fabulous construction was built: that of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church, the oldest stone church in North America. Destroyed by the bombing of the lower town by the British on August 1759, which was a premise for the British victory over the French and the end of the French regime in America on September 1759, it was rebuilt and reborn from its ashes (1766) . In 1929, the church was declared a historic monument and was designated a national historic site by the Government of Canada in 1988.
It is probably the very European character of the church (and the Place Royale) that made director Steven Spielberg chose it to shoot a crucial scene of his movie. Even though, the mother of our hero Frank Abagnale, is of French origin. Thus, during his escape, listening perhaps to his old instincts, Frank will take refuge in France. Where you guessed it, he eventually got caught.
Why did our friend Spielberg chose to shoot the scene in Quebec rather than in France? The hypotheses are numerous, but could it be that it is as simple as because the church is majestic and more representative of Europe than France itself? I'll let you make your own mind!
