Le Nid

Situé au 32ème étage de la tour Bretagne, « Le Nid » était une œuvre d'art créée par l'artiste Jean Jullien en 2012 à l'occasion de la première édition du Voyage à Nantes. Repaire d'un immense héron blanc, le lieu offrait un point de vue unique sur la Cité des Ducs et, en à peine 8 ans, s'est imposé comme un lieu incontournable de la vie nantaise. Fermé d'abord pour cause de pandémie mondiale, l'opération de désiamantage de la Tour Bretagne empêchera sa réouverture pour de nombreuses années à venir. Le Héron quitte donc son Nid et fait ses adieux aux Nantais...

La Tour Bretagne

Le Nid n'est plus, mais la Tour Bretagne se dresse toujours fièrement au centre de la ville. Inaugurée en 1976, elle n'a jamais fait l'unanimité chez les Nantais. Longtemps restée à moitié vide, l'ouverture du Nid avait su lui redonner un nouveau souffle en permettant l'accès à son sommet pour profiter de la vue panoramique sur la ville. Aujourd'hui entièrement vidée pour des travaux de désamiantage, la Tour Bretagne va subir une lente métamorphose qui prendra plusieurs années. Et tout comme la tour, cette virtuelle doit donc elle aussi se réinventer.

Pour valider cette cache

Pour valider votre visite, vous devez vous prendre en photo au pied de la tour. Pour rendre hommage au Nid et à son héron, vous pouvez poser avec un œuf ou encore former un oiseau avec vos mains (soyez créatifs). Ces nouvelles consignes permettront de documenter l'évolution de la Tour. Et, qui sait, peut-être que le héron viendra y refaire son nid un jour...

Le Nid

Located on the 32nd floor of the Tour Bretagne, « Le Nid » ("The Nest") was a piece of art created by artist Jean Jullien in 2012 for the first edition of the Voyage à Nantes (a contemporary art festival held every summer). It used to be home to a giant white heron and provided a unique point of view on the City of the Dukes (one of Nantes' nickname). In only 8 years, Le Nid managed to establish itself as a key location, not to be missed while touring across the city. First closed because of the pandemic, the abestos removal operation of the Tour Bretagne put the final nail in its coffin. The Heron is leaving its Nest and says farewell to the city...

The Tour Bretagne

Le Nid may be closed but the Tour Bretagne still stands proudly in the heart of the city. Inaugurated in 1976, the tower always had its detractors. It remained half empty for a long time but the opening of Le Nid gave it a second wind. Today, the tower is totally empty due to abestos removal works. It began a slow metamorphosis that will take several years. Mirroring the tower's mutation, this virtual cache is forced to reinvent itself.

To log this cache

To log this cache, you must take a picture of yourself at the foot of the tower. To pay tribute to Le Nid and to its heron, you can pose with an egg on the picture or you can also make a bird with your hands (be creative). These new guidelines are also the opportunity to document the evolution of the tower throughout its renovation. And, who knows, maybe the heron will come back someday to build a new nest...
