Calakmul itself is estimated to have had a population of 50,000 people and had governance, at times, over places as far away as 150 kilometers. There are 6,750 ancient structures identified at Calakmul; the largest of which is the great pyramid at the site. Structure 2 is over 45 metres (148 ft) high, making it one of the tallest of the Maya pyramids (source: wikipedia). From the top of Structure 1 you may be able to see the mayan site of El Mirador located in Guatemala southward. You might also see toucans (and even a jaguar if you are lucky!) while walking on the numerous paths.
To log this virtual cache, you must reach the top of the Structure 2 (the highest pyramid of the site, nice hike :-) ) and post your prettiest panorama or even better, an original-out-of-ordinary photo taken at this place!!
