The low health score on this cache has remained below 60 since my last contact. I see no sign of any maintenance being done to correct this and I have had no response from the owner since my last contact. Due to the lack of response I have no idea if any corrective action has been taken or if the owner has confirmed the cache is still in place. Consequently I am archiving the cache at this time. If the owner does happen to complete the maintenance required and wish to activate the cache again just let me know and I will consider unarchiving it once the issue is resolved.

Irène Chabot

Irène Chabot is recognized in the Saskatchewan Francophone community as a pioneer in many areas.

Irène Fournier married Alfred Chabot in Ferland, her birthplace, in 1949. Over the next two decades, she raised her family, as well as helping to found the Fédération des femmes canadiennes-françaises in the region.

In 1977, Irène Chabot was elected President of the Association culturelle canadienne-française, the first women to occupy this post, which she held until 1983. In the 1980s, she was also President of the Board of Collège Mathieu.

Throughout her life, Irène Chabot was a strong ambassador for the Fransaskois community and for the feminist movement in the West. She was able to inspire a whole new generation of women to get involved in their communities.

Irène Chabot est reconnue dans la communauté francophone de la Saskatchewan comme une pionnière et ce, à bien des niveaux.

En 1977, Irène Chabot est élu présidente de l'Association culturelle franco-canadienne (aujourd'hui l'Assemblée communautaire fransaskoise), la première femme à assurer ce poste qu'elle a occupé jusqu'en 1983. Dans les années 1980, elle sera aussi présidente du conseil d’administration du Collège Mathieu.

Tout au long de sa vie, Irène Chabot sera une fière ambassadrice de la fransaskoisie et du mouvement féministe de l’ouest. Elle a su inspirer toute une nouvelle génération de femmes à s’impliquer dans leur communauté.
