Geocache Description:

GBTE Meet & Greet

Hello fellow geocachers of Ljubljana, I am coming your way! No matter if you live here or you are just visiting, I would love to meet you when I get there!

In July I got on my bike and started Geocaching Bicycle Touring Europe. Maybe you saw the blog post written geosledec website and you already know about GBTE? On October 21, after 108 days on the road, I am going to arrive in Ljubljana!

Here are some dates of my time in your country::

  • Oct 19 entering Slovenia (hopefully find a place to sleep near Miren);
  • Oct 20 hopefully finding a place to sleep near the Webcam Cache;
  • Oct 21 arriving in Ljubljana hosting this event;
  • Oct 22 doing the Geo-Art and also I would like to get the T5 Sniper's Nest;
  • Oct 23 leaving Ljubljana in the morning|;
  • Oct 25 exiting Slovenia.

This event...

... is a Meet&Greet! I want to get in touch with the local community and meet the owners of the caches I am finding (or perhaps found already). I always try to make events wherever I go, and I have had many wonderful experiences and met awesome people due to events I hosted. My whole tour is about meeting the people and seeing the places, so events are the best way to do both.

It's my first time in your city, the first time in your country, so I had no idea where to host the event. But I talked with Borut (president of geocaching klub Geosledec) and he suggested this location. The cache was already on my list, so it seemed like a good choice.. Hope to see you there!

Wanna meet on Oct 21 from 18:00 to 18:30?

You can use this event as a great opportunity to find out whatever you would like to know about me and my trip, or to get your hands on one of the (trackable) GBTE2017 GeoCoins (click to learn more) !

Also, if you feel like giving a helping hand to a long distance cyclist, I will never say no to a hot meal, a place to sleep, camp or have a shower. In fact I am looking for some places to sleep during my passs through Slovenia. Especially in/near Idrija (because I want to be there for the webcam cache) but also in Ljubljana for two nights (because I want to do the GeoSledec Geo-Art on the 22nd of October). Any help would be much appreciated!

Also very helpful would be if you could spread the word... maybe you have friends or family somewhere along my route? Perhaps they can offer me shelter for a night? Or a place for me to set up my tent? A backyard.. an old barn, an abandoned building.. I'll take almost anything!

How about joining me for a bit of T5 hunting, or if you have a bike, maybe we can ride together a couple of kilometers?

Feel free to contact me whatever way is more convenient for you. I am on facebook, whatsapp, instagram, you can email me or send me a message here in the geocaching messenger (I like messages because I can see them in the mobile app)

What is GBTE?

GBTE (Geocaching Bicycle Touring Europe) is my big adventure for the second half of 2017. Cycling and geocaching through Denmark - Germany - Netherlands – Belgium – France – UK – Andorra – Spain – Italy – San Marino – Slovenia – Croatia – Serbia – Bulgaria and Romania. It is going to be a trip of nearly 7000 km, during almost 5 months and I am targeting a little bit over 2000 caches.

But it's not about the number, not really. I do not care about having 2000 more finds after this trip, as much as I care about the very specific caches I want to get. I planned my route according to the caches, not the other way around: starting with T5 climbing caches, virtual and webcam, old caches, those with many FP and some of the ones nominated for Geocache Of The Week. Basically, all the special ones, you know them!

Yes, I am doing all of these while riding on a fully loaded bicycle, self supported, camping and trying to find hosts on and for accommodation... it's freaking AWESOME! :D

Also, because I love the social part of geocaching, I am hosting events all over along the route! I do hope to meet many local players, to chat, discover TB, and maybe, like on other occasions, find some geocachers that would join me on the T5 geo-hunts. Or maybe offer a meal or a shower, or a bed for a night? Who knows... maybe you know someone that knows someone... It's a long trip, and any bit of help is much appreciated!

I look forward to make many friends during this summer and autumn, so come meet me! There are also a few TB for you to discover: myself, my bike, my logbook, these events.... :D

If you want to know more, see where I am at this moment and follow the trip, check out my website at You are more than welcome to like and share the official facebook page: and this way you can keep an eye on all my updates :)
