Geocache Description:

The continuing saga of GC7A00T, GC7C8G0, and GC7D9TW continues with this geocache. Just over one year ago, November 27, 2016, in these game lands, a new geocaching friend entered the picture, another 'green' who had really captured the attention of one OddMushroom. Read on for the ongoing story surrounding this "geo-friends" anniversary cache.

Following the events of GC7A00T, GC7C8G0, and GC7D9TW, mrGreen317 and OddMushroom had a number of memorable geocaching adventures in the fall of 2016. A number of these adventures seemed to involve this SGL 184 area and night caches. A look back over mrGreen317's geocaching 'notebook' will put this all in perspective...

October 21, 2016

The very first "night cache" adventure for mrGreen317 involved meeting OddMushroom and Profbrad (for mrGreen317, this was the first geocaching adventure with Profbrad, and it provided a great opportunity to get to know "The Professor" who created such gems as Trickster/GC5YBPX in the Altoona area). They all came to tackle a nearby lonely cache at that time, "Arswyda 'r nos" (GC1W4Z9), a cache which has a title that seems to translate from the Welsh "Awake at night". The cache was located, even with a component missing, and it was cleared from the lonely list.

November 6, 2016

After a fun afternoon hiking with OddMushroom , jax-man and mrGreen317 decided to tackle another night cache in this SGL, "Don't Fear the Night" (does one sense a theme to these caches up here?), before it was to also find itself on the lonely list. The two geocachers made it to all but the final location, logging a DNF.

November 9, 2016

This time mrGreen317 returned, now with "Don't Fear..." having found itself on the lonely list, accompanied by Profbrad and also Superchucklez (mrGreen317's first geocaching adventure with Superchucklez). This time, with some help from the CO in clearing brush away from the final, the cache was located and this one also went off the lonely list. The Professor logged "#victorylap #thisistooeasyfolks", but mrGreen317 did a "Write Note" only, with the intention of one more trip to bring the missing members of the group out here: jax-man and OddMushroom. Little did mrGreen317 know that a new member would soon be coming along...

November 19, 2016

mrGreen317 had a pretty lousy day of geocaching with a good bit of DNFs and not a lot to show for his afternoon, but meanwhile, OddMushroom was having the time of his life with somebody new, as they knocked off an entire day of impressive geocaches, such as "The Search for Flight N32777" (GC5FT00). Who was this new person to be entering the life of OddMushroom? Well, it was the very same CO of Tyrone Canyon Phoenix (GC69AFX), a cache that mrGreen317 and OddMushroom had tackled for an amazing adventure just the night before on 11/18/16. Another 'green' had entered the picture, 'green nikki'.

November 27, 2016

After the Thanksgiving holiday, and the night before the big deer season opened, OddMushroom, jax-man, BanditDakota (along with Domino), and mrGreen317 all managed a meet-up at SGL 184 to finally tackle and complete "Don't Fear the Night", along with a number of other excellent caches in the SGL. OddMushroom, of course, also brought along green nikki. This was the first time that the other members in the geocaching group finally got to meet green nikki, who had been quite the topic of conversation as of late. It was an amazingly smooth integration of this new geocacher into the merry band of the geo-friends. Welcome, green nikki!

November 27, 2017

Now after just over a year since this meeting, it is fun to look back at all the fun activities that have been shared since then, not the least of which was the fun morning hiding OddMushroom's gold can at the end of December 2016, but that, as they say, is a story for another time...

This 'anniversary' cache is a commemoration of that fun nighttime adventure just a bit over a year ago. Since November 27, 2017, fell on the first day of the big deer season this year, the hiding and publishing of the cache has been delayed a few days to line up with the first big 'off day' of hunting, which would be Sunday, December 3, 2017.

As this is SGL, please observe all SGL rules, wearing orange as required during the primary hunting seasons, and please understand that hunters have the priority usage in these game lands. Searching for this cache is recommended on Sunday afternoon during the primary hunting season, as there will be no hunters allowed on Sunday.

The ammo can is at the posted coordinates (this is a traditional geocache), about a half-mile walk from the gate. The can has been painted by OddMushroom, and he may have outdone himself on this one, if that were possible. It might be one of mrGreen317's favorite paint jobs. Many thanks to OM for this amazing artistry on this geocache.
