Geocache Description:

CONGRATS TO luvtwingle FTF

This cache is for Team PooKel - My Geocaching Pals from Peoria. The cache is a nasty little thing and magnetic. The hint tells you exactly where I put it. Park and think first before you start hunting, the hint should illuminate the answer perfectly at night. The log only has room for your initials. It is placed right in front - so stealth is needed as you raise your arms to grab this one.

Creepy Clown Mall is on the corner of serial clown killer John Wayne Gacy's house now gone and replaced with a new house. John Wayne Gacy, was responsible for the rape and murder of 33 boys ranging in age from 8 to 12 years old until his arrest in 1978, 27 of whom he buried in a crawl space under his house at 8213 West Summerdae Ave which is located Just down the street from the mall. The city has since changed the address of the murder site, and a new house has been built in it's place because the police demolished the house in search of bodies. The mall up the street is still there however with the sign shining. If it could only talk. I imagine Gacy saw it every day, passed by and shopped here often. Knowing he only lived down the street, the eerie feeling of the neighborhood shops is overwhelming.

HISTORY The story of the clowns capture by Des Plaines Police has filled books and made movies. The first report was July 1975, when the first teenager who worked for Gacy was reported missing. By 1977 a young man went to the Chicago police for help claiming he had been kidnapped and molested by Gacy. A report was made to Chicago police but officers failed to follow up. The following year, Gacy murdered a 15-year-old boy who had gone to Gacy’s home to ask about a job with his construction company. This time, the Des Plaines police followed up and broke the case. Gacy was arrested, and admitted to the murders using an insanity plea in the hopes of a not guilty verdict. However, the jury found him guilty. On May 10, 1994, John Wayne Gacy was executed by lethal injection. 1999 the death penalty was abolished in Illinois. Gacy’s childhood home is 4505 N Marmora Ave Chicago NE corner of Sunnyside ave.
