SK: Event sa začne o 17:10 SEČ, čiže 5 minút pred jarnou rovnodennosťou. Skončí sa o 18:05, čiže 3 minúty po astronomickom západe slnka, ktorý na súradniciach eventu  nastane o 18:02.

EN: The event will start at 17:10 (5:10 p.m.) CET, that is 5 minutes before the spring equinox. It will last till 18:05, that is 3 minutes after the astronomical sunset, which on the event coordinates will occur at 18:02.

Rovnodennosť je jeden z dvoch okamihov (alebo dní) za rok, keď existuje také miesto na rovníku, kde lúče Slnka dopadajú kolmo na zemský povrch. Rovina zemského rovníka vtedy prechádza stredom Slnka, takže ekliptika (priemet dráhy Zeme okolo Slnka na oblohu) pretína svetový rovník (čo je priemet zemského rovníka na oblohu). Ich priesečník sa volá bod rovnodennosti, teda rovnodennosť je presne ten okamih, keď obraz stredu Slnka prechádza bodom rovnodennosti.

Severná i južná pologuľa Zeme má vtedy presne polovicu svojej plochy osvetlenú Slnkom a polovicu v tieni. Preto približne vtedy sa dĺžka dňa najmenej líši od dĺžky noci. Z toho pochádza slovenský názov „rovnodennosť“ aj latinský  „aequinoctium“ a  anglický „equinox“, keďže po latinsky  „aequus“ znamená „rovnaký“ a „nox“ (genitív: „noctis“) znamená „noc“.

Jarná rovnodennosť (na severnej pologuli začína astronomická jar, ale na južnej jeseň) nastáva okolo 20.marca a jesenná (na južnej pologuli však začína jar) okolo 23.septembra. Presný okamih rovnodennosti je premenlivý. Spôsobuje to rozdiel medzi dobou otáčania Zeme okolo Slnka a 365-násobkom doby otáčania Zeme okolo vlastnej osi, a tiež priestupné roky.

V roku 2018 nastane marcová rovnodennosť popoludní o 17. hodine a 15. minúte stredoeurópskeho (zimného) času. Päť minút predtým, čiže o 17:10 sa stretneme na daných súradniciach vo Vodárenskom parku v Bratislave - Karlovej Vsi, čo je miesto, z ktorého za priaznivých podmienok bude možné pozorovať klesanie slnka na oblohe pred jeho západom. V blízkosti sú parkoviská aj zastávky mestskej dopravy.

Logbook bude k dispozícii od 17:10 do 18:05 stredoeurópskeho (zimného) času, čiže ešte 3 minúty po astronomickom západe slnka, ktorý na súradniciach eventu nastane o 18:02.

Kto sa prihlási logom WA najneskôr týždeň (168 hodín) pred  začiatkom eventu a zúčastní sa na ňom, bude si môcť za 0,20 € (20 eurocentov) kúpiť príležitostné drievko (SWG).

Equinox is one of the two moments (or days) in a year when the Sun is exactly overhead at a point on the equatorial line. It is when the imaginary plane of Earth's equator passes the centre of the Sun, so that the ecliptic (the orbit of Earth around Sun, projected on the celestial sphere) crosses the celestial equator (which is the projection of Earth' equator). Their intersection is called equinox point, and so equinox is the exact moment when the image of Sun's centre on the celestial sphere passes the equinox point.

In that moment, each hemisphere (Northern and Southern) of the Earth has exactly one half of its area sunlit and half in shadow. Therefore around this moment the difference between the lengths of day and night is the smallest. The English word “equinox” and Latin “aequinoctium” originate from that fact, since in Latin “aequus” means “equal” and “nox” (genitive: “noctis”) means “night”.

The vernal equinox, when astronomical spring begins on the northern hemisphere (and autumn on the southern), occurs around 20th March and the autumnal equinox (with spring beginning on the southern hemisphere, however) around 23rd September. The exact moment of equinox varies. The variation is due to the difference between the duration of Earth's rotation around Sun and the 365 rotations of the Earth around its axis, as well as to the leap years.

In 2018, the March equinox occurs on 20th March at 17:15 Central European Time (5:15 p.m. CET). Five minutes earlier, that is at 17:10 the event will start at the given coordinates in Vodárenský park in Bratislava - Karlova Ves. At this location, under favourable weather conditions, it will be possible to observe the descending of the Sun on the sky before the sunset. There are parkings and municipal transport stops nearby.

The logbook will be available from 17:10 to 18:05 CET, that is 3 minutes after the astronomical sunset, which at the event coordinates will occur at 18:02.

Those who log WA not later than one week (168 hours) before the start of the event and attend it will be offered to buy a special Slovak Wood Geocoin (SWG) made for the occasion for 0,20 € (20 eurocents).
