I started the Johnny Appleseed series about three months ago as I watched my caching karma droop over the years, and felt the need to give back, and explore the local trails in a different perspective. Since those 50 caches were placed, my karma has doubled from 0.35 to over 0.70, so I'm starting round two, sprinkling caches along the trails just a bit farther from home.
This cache is on the Waterwheel Creek Trail, a ways down the trail from the Waterwheel parking lot of Montebello Preserve. There is parking at the parking lot, but it requires a permit, available from the Open Space webpage. From this cache you can see an old crag face that must be climbed, it should be climbed, but alas it can't be climbed. Fencing shows that it is on the vineyard side of the preserve, so no access. Oh well, at least you get a cache and a view.
