Forest Minions: From all the Forest Minions:

We would like to thank you so much for spending the weekend with us in the middle of the woods. Though sheer willpower and a lot of luck we were able to avoid chiggers, ticks, and alien abduction.......well.......mostly!

This event is made great by all of you! Everyone who attends to share stories of the days adventures, chomp down on some yummy grub, mingle at camp with old friends along with making new ones, offering up extra jeep seats, catching an eerie flick, and campfire stories with melty s'mores and burnt popcorn.

Some of us are skipping this years hibernation and already starting on plans for next year. Florida's first ever MEGA geocaching event is going to be celebrating its 15th year in 2019. We are a bit smaller in size now, but our heart is bigger then ever. Next years event will be October 17th through October 20th, 2019. Thanks to each and every one of you for your continued support and we look forward to playing in the woods with you again next year!

Geocache Description:

Friday, October 19, 2018 from 9:00pm until 6:00am

Two events in one! We start with the AFDB contest at 9pm, then at 9:30pm we will give instructions for the Night Gauntlet and start sending teams out.

The Forest Minions, with the assistance of Clan Riffster, would like to welcome everyone to a Florida Finders Fest icon, the AFDB Contest, in support of Florida Finders Fest 2018, whose mission is Finds, Fellowship and Fun. (Not to mention, educating folks in a bid to prevent unwanted probing). Welcome to the deep, dark depths of the Ocala National Forest, a place fraught with dangers, both real and imagined. A narrow beam photon emitter should be considered required equipment. (For you Gators fans, that means "Bring a flashlight")

Alien Probing in the ONF has been on the rise lately, so Clan Riffster thought he would avail himself of this opportunity to educate the masses on the illustrious AFDB, or Aluminum Foil Deflection Beanie, the only headgear known to prevent the unwanted advances of amorous space aliens. For the educational aspect of this event, only your presence is required.

There are three levels of participation in the AFDB Contest:

1 ) Participant.
Participants are those who wish to show off their AFDB building skills. These good folks should arrive with their AFDB properly deployed. (For you Gators fans, that means "on your head".)

2 ) Judge.
Those without an AFDB will be tasked with judging those who have an AFDB. Judges should come prepared with a wry sense of humor and a loud voice. Judges will be issued candy, which they shall award to those persons with the best AFDB. There is no penalty for Judges who opt to eat their candy, rather than award it.

3 ) Mook.
Those who can't participate due to a lack of an AFDB, (or concerns of possible conflicts of interest due to past probing incidents), and refuse to partake in the poking fun at others by acting as Judges, shall be hereafter known as Mooks, unfit for polite society.

The group will be divided into its respective three parts, and the judging shall commence forthwith. As participants get voted out, they shall become either judges or mooks, depending on their attitudes. Voting shall be by acclimation, with the ultimate winner being the person who the others give the most candy to.

The awarding of prizes and gobs of schmoozing will follow!

Immediatly after the AFDB Contest, Gather around for the Night Gauntlet Instructions will be given for anyone wanting to particiapate in the Night Gantlet. It is reccomended to form teams of 3-6 people. This a spooky, fun, family friendly, cooky semi-competative scavenger hunt-hike-race.........all in the pitch of night! This night gauntlet will be available until 6am on Saturady October 20th
