Geocache Description:

This geocache is #3 in a series of caches entitled "The Secret Life of Larval Fish: A Geocaching Adventure."

About this cache: From this location, you can view the beautiful Younger Lagoon, home to a very special type of goby. You can also view Monterey Bay, home to many species of commericially important fish! Visit this cache to learn how parental care and parental condition may impact the babies of two of our local species.

About the series: Did you know that many species of fish have a larval stage that looks very different from the adult form? Fish larvae vary hugely in how they look, how they behave, and how they interact with their parents. Come explore the wide world of baby fish!

  1. Visit the Seymour Marine Discovery Center to obtain a geocaching passport, or visit https://www.kaemdale.com/geocaching to print out your own. Admission is only required if you would like to receive the prize at the end.
  2. Find each of the five caches. At each cache, answer the question on your passport using information in the container, and stamp your passport.
  3. Return to the Seymour Center after finding all 5 caches to obtain a commemorative wooden nickel. Please note -- the Seymour Center is closed on Mondays.

Please remain on paths -- protect our native plants. Cache placed with permission from the Seymour Marine Discovery Center & UCSC's Young Lagoon Reserve. Funding provided by the Western Division of the American Fisheries Society.
