Legend has it that the nearby wall was erected to contain some wild brown bears, to be imported into NZ by Mr George Quick. Opinions vary as to whether any bears actually ever lived here, but it's still known to locals as 'The Bear Wall', and it's a good tale.
It's also a good place to plonk a cache that, like the wall, has more to it than meets the eye. Check the difficulty rating before you log a DNF.
