Buckhorn (Iowa Ghost Town)
How Geocaching Works
Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer
This is all that remains of a once bustling community in Jackson County Iowa. Be aware that these building are on private property. It is not necessary to enter the property to find the cache. Respect private property, do not enter or explore the buildings. Abandoned buildings include the farmers co-op, tavern, and hotel. At one time there was a stagecoach shop, a gas station and more. The Buckhorn Creamery was the last business, it closed in the 1960s and the residents soon abandoned the community. The church is still in good condition and is used for community events. The Buckhorn cemetery is located across the highway and is well maintained.
