Cache In Trash Out
Cache In Trash Out® (CITO) is an environmental initiative supported by the geocaching community. Since 2002, CITO has helped preserve the natural beauty of cache-friendly spaces. In that time, more than 240,000 people have volunteered at 11,000 CITO events. Twice per year, geocachers can earn virtual souvenirs by hosting and attending events during CITO weeks. Visit the Help Center for information on the next CITO week.
Attend CITO Events- At CITO events, geocachers and community groups work together to improve parks and other outdoor environments. They clean up litter, plant trees, remove invasive species, build trails, and more. To attend an event, other than this one, view the CITO calendar or find CITO events near you.
Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to me! It's StacheCache's birthday so we are hosting a CITO event prior to the party.
Woodlands County has given us permision to use the Groat Creek Camping area for this event.
Litter pick up will be the focus of this clean up. We will be doing both ditches along highway 43, along the creek and the campground itself.
Weather will not slow us down, so be sure to dress appropriately and bring bug spray, sunscreen, gloves, and appropriate footwear
Stay clean with a wash up station at the campground before you leave. We will have water and garbage bags for the event.
Event will be 5:30pm - 7:30pm, If we finish early it will be posted here and on the Facebook event page. The BBQ will happen after the event at Alamosta Farm (StacheCache's parents property). Coordinates are located in the waypoints of this event. There are dogs on the property that like to bark at cars as they come and go, but they are harmless and just want you to be their friend and never, ever, leave. If you have special food requirements or limitations you may wish to bring your own snacks, the BBQ will be hot dogs and hamburger.
The meeting/parking areas are wheelchair/stroller accessable however these individules may not be able to participate in the clean up due to hills and slopes, you may still attend any portion of the event.
CITO every day, a CITO can happen on every geocaching adventure! Pick up trash that you see on the trail. Clean up the area around each geocache. These small acts make a huge difference.
Happy Caching Eh!
