For this CITO Event we are joining Menter Môn and Llangoed Community Council to litter pick around Aberlleiniog Castle and the surrounding grounds. We will be meeting in Llangoed Village Hall at 1pm. Please arrive promptly to ensure you attend the safety briefing. The event will last for 1 hour finishing at 2pm.
Aberlleiniog Castle
Aberlleiniog Castle is a motte and bailey fortress built between 1080 and 1099 by Hugh d'Avranches, 1st Earl of Chester. Originally it would have been a wooden structure, now long since disappeared, and replaced during the Civil War by a stone structure consisting of a surrounding wall, and archers towers. Its captivating story abounds with colourful characters, including Welsh Princes, Norman overlords, Viking raiders, traitors, pirates, Civil War commanders, wealthy estate owners and Georgian naturalists! It has something to capture everyone's imagination! Today the castle is a quiet, peaceful place surrounded by beautiful woodland and open spaces full of wild life.
Litter Pick
Our task for the day will be to pick up as much litter as possible from the woodlands surrounding the castle. Litter pickers will be provided but please bring your own gloves and wear suitable footwear as there are areas that can be very muddy.
As with any Geocaching activity you carry out this event within your own capabilities and at your own risk.
After the litter pick LLangoed Community Council/Menter Môn will be providing light refreshments in the Village Hall. We would like to invite attendees to help introduce Geocaching to the volenteers from Menter Môn and Llangoed Community Council by sharing their caching experiences and to assist in finding some new caches.

Castell Aberlleiniog
Castell mwnt a beili a adeiladwyd rhwng 1080 a 1099 gan Hugh d'Aranches, Iarll 1af Gaer yw castell Aberlleiniog. Yn wreiddiol, adeilad pren roed, ond mae hwn wedi diflannu, a chael ei adeiladu mewn cerrig gan gynnwys wal cwmpas a thyrau saethu yn ystod y rhyfel cartref. Mae ei stori swynol yn llawn cymeriadau lliwgar, gan gynnwys rhai o Dywysogion Cymru, mechdeyrnedd Normanaidd, ysbeilwyr Llychlynnaidd, bradwyr, môr-ladron, cadlywyddion y Rhyfel Cartref, perchnogion stadau cyfoethog a naturiaethwyr Sioraidd! Mae rhywbeth i gipio dychymyg pawb i’w gael yma! Erbyn heddiw, mae'r castell yn ddistaw, ac mewn lleoliad heddychlon wedi'u hamgylchynu a choedwig ac ardaloedd agored yn llawn bywyd gwyllt.
Codi Sbwriel
Ein tasg ar y diwrnod fydd i godi gymaint â sbwriel ac sydd bosib yn y coedwigodd o gwmpas y castell. Mi fydd yna litter pickers ar gael, ond cofiwch ddod a menig eich hun, Cofiwch wisgo esgidiau addas gan fod yna rhai ardaloedd mwdlyd
Fel bob digwyddiad geocaching, byddwch chi yn gwneud y gwaith yn ôl eich gallu a risg eich hunain.
Ar ôl codi sbwriel, mi fydd Cyngor Cymuned Llangoed/Menter Môn yn darparu lluniaeth ysgafn yn Neuadd y Pentref. Hoffem wahodd y rhai sy'n mynychu i helpu i gyflwyno Geocaching i wirfoddolwyr Menter Môn a Chyngor Cymuned Llangoed trwy rannu eu profiadau yn gwneud geocaching ac i gynorthwyo nhw i ddod o hyd i rai caches newydd. </ P>
