Geocache Description:

[LV]

Pragmatisku nolūku vadīti - pasargāt Salacas krastu no erozijas - novada tēvi lēma būvēt promenādi.

[ENG]

The Salacgriva Lighthouse is located on the right bank of the Salaca River - a four-cornered white tower with a red lantern at its end. Today, the lighthouse is no longer working - following this lighthouse, all fishermen have already found their way home and the story is finished happily. The lighthouse was built because of the numerous strains the coast between Salacgriva and Ainaži was the most dangerous area for shipping throughout the Gulf of Riga.

Leading the pragmatic goal - to protect the coast of Salaca from erosion - the fathers decided to build a promenade. It took time for the locals to get the stones and put it! Just as Baron's times, but with a slight shift in time, the Salacgriva promenade was launched in May 2014.

Today the lighthouse meets the unofficial symbol of the city and is like a local Laima watch - look at a clear summer evening - this is where you meet! An excellent place to enjoy tea in the warm evenings and watch the sun go early in the morning with a cup of coffee in hand, seeing how to check the nets at the mouth of the river or bikin like a binocular on the other side of the river top of the regular self portrait with the Porter.
