Trait d’union entre la Lorraine et l’Alsace, le sentier des passeurs est à cheval sur trois Vallées emblématiques de ces deux régions : il débute à Salm, dans la Vallée de la Bruche, traverse une partie la Vallée du Rabodeau et se termine aux portes de Raon l’Etape. C’est d’ailleurs par cette gare, et celle d’Etival Clairefontaine que se clôturait le long périple des passeurs. Cette route forestière, construite par des prisonniers russes et polonais durant la première guerre mondiale, alors que l’Alsace était allemande ; illustre un épisode particulier de la seconde guerre mondiale. Dès 1940 le territoire du Bas Rhin est indexé par les allemands, tandis que les Vosges sont occupées par l’armée nazie. Véritable nervure historique des échappés des camps, soldats ou civils ; entre zone annexée et occupée, un sentier que franchirent au péril de leurs vies des hommes qui voulaient en conduire d’autres vers la liberté. Un espace pour l’art au cœur des forêts entre Vosges e Alsace, plus de trente sites d’exposition. Les années paires, Hélicoop fait travailler des artistes sur ce territoire, pour réaliser une œuvre in situ sur le sentier des passeurs. Le fruit de leurs travaux traduit un mélange subtil entre l’histoire des lieux, la morphologie du paysage et la sensibilité propre à chaque participant. C’est toute la forêt qui s’anime pour faire résonner bien haut l’écho des passeurs.
A link between Lorraine and Alsace, the path of the smugglers straddles three emblematic Valleys of these two regions: it starts in Salm, in the Bruche Valley, crosses part of the Rabodeau Valley and ends at the gates of Raon l'Etape. It was through this station, and that of Etival Clairefontaine, that the long journey of the smugglers ended. This forest road, built by Russian and Polish prisoners during the First World War, when Alsace was German; illustrates a particular episode of the Second World War. From 1940 the territory of the Lower Rhine was annexed by the Germans, while the Vosges was occupied by the Nazi army. A real historical nerve of the escapees of the camps, soldiers or civilians; between annexed and occupied zones, a path that men who wanted to lead others towards freedom crossed at the risk of their lives. The path of the smugglers is now a space for art in the heart of the forest between the Vosges and Alsace with more than thirty exhibits. In even-numbered years, Helicoop has artists working on this territory to create in situ works of art on the smugglers' trail. The fruit of their work reflects a subtle mix between the history of the sites, the morphology of the landscape and the sensitivity specific to each artist. It is the whole forest that comes to life to makes the echo of the smugglers ring out loud.
Eine Verbindung zwischen Lothringen und dem Elsass, der Weg der Schmuggler führt über drei emblematische Täler dieser beiden Regionen: Er beginnt in Salm, im Bruchtal, durchquert einen Teil des Rabodeau-Tals und endet an den Toren von Raon l'Etape. Durch diese Station und die von Etival Clairefontaine endete die lange Reise der Schmuggler. Diese Forststraße, die von russischen und polnischen Gefangenen während des Ersten Weltkriegs, als das Elsass deutsch war, gebaut wurde, zeigt eine besondere Episode des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Ab 1940 wird das Gebiet des Niederrheins von den Deutschen indiziert, während die Vogesen von der Nazi-Armee besetzt sind. Ein echter historischer Nerv der Flüchtlinge der Lager, Soldaten oder Zivilisten; zwischen annektierten und besetzten Zonen, ein Weg, den Männer, die andere in die Freiheit führen wollten, unter Einsatz ihres Lebens gegangen sind. Ein Raum für Kunst im Herzen der Wälder zwischen den Vogesen und dem Elsass, mehr als dreißig Ausstellungsorte. In geraden Jahren hat Helicoop Künstler, die auf diesem Gebiet arbeiten, um eine In-situ-Arbeit auf den Spuren der Schmuggler zu schaffen. Die Früchte ihrer Arbeit spiegeln eine subtile Mischung aus der Geschichte der Stätten, der Morphologie der Landschaft und der für jeden Teilnehmer spezifischen Sensibilität wider. Es ist der ganze Wald, der zum Leben erwacht, um das Echo der Schmuggler laut ertönen zu lassen.
