The Beginning of London's Rail History

London's first station was opened by the Great Western Railway (GWR) in 1853. It became part of the Great Trunk Railway (GTR) after the companies merged in 1882.

This original Building was demolished in 1935 when Canadian National Railway(CN) took over ownership. This CN station was demolished in 1963 to make way for two structures at the site. A three-storey building at 205 York Street (now home to the CN Credit Union) was completed in 1963 and the 10-storey CN Tower Building at 197 York Street built in 1969. The second building was closed and demolished in 2001 and has become a parking lot. The platform has remained for the new station.

2001 lead way to major changes with the demolition of one building and 7 Million dollar reinvestment into the remaining at 205 York. In 2004 the International Limited was operated jointly by Via Rail and Amtrak between Chicago and Toronto. The service, which had started in 1982, was discontinued in 2004.

Via Rail is the current owner and operator of the London Train Station. It is a manned station and has 1 Platform, 1 Island Platform.
