How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a themed micro container within a small-sized outer clip-and-lock box. You must sign the log in the inner container to claim a find, but the outer container has room for small TBs and trade items. Please replace securely and rehide well as there are warnings about fly-tipping along this road. Please take care on this busy road with geokids and geopets. There is a small pull-in where you can park about 40 metres further on (if coming from the Rosliston direction) but please be careful when walking back along the lane.

Major Baker

Major Baker was born in Hugglescote in 1896. Like his father, he was originally a collier at Ellistown Pit, but enlisted in the 5th Leicestershire Battalion.  By April 1915 he was serving with the 2/5th (reserve) Battalion. After a posting to Ireland, by March 1917 he was near to Méricourt on the Western Front. He was badly wounded in May 1917 resulting in the amputation of both of his feet. He returned to England, married Francis Tutt of Newcastle and passed away in a military hospital in Ayr in 1964.
