Thorir Hund's men may have lived here at Sandmælen. A ring-shaped medieval yard with 16 houses was excavated here. Each house had a length of 8-10 meters and a width of 3-4 meters. In the middle of the yard two fireplaces was found. Due to few findings here, these were probably not used throughout the year. These houses may have been barracks for the chief's herd or guesthouses. There was room for between 10 and 20 men in each building, i.e. a strength of between 160 and 320 men. In the immediate vicinity of the yard many discoveries have been made that date all the way back to the 200th century AD.
