About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
About Bargeddie Station
Bargeddie is a generic 2 platform through station on the Rutherglen to Coatbridge line.
The line, predominantly a freight line, was opened in 1865. The station, first opened as Drumpark in 1934 and closed in 1964, sits on the site of what was Drumpellier Junction which allowed trains to access a number of collieries in the area. After the closure of the first station the line continued to be used by freight.
The current station was built on the site of the old station and was opened in 1993. The line was electrified in 2014. The station today sees 2 trains an hour each way, westbound trains heading to Dalmuir via Glasgow Central low level and eastbound trains heading for Whifflet and Motherwell.
For the cache, stealth is needed as the site is overlooked by houses. Please replace as found.
