About Carmyle Station
Carmyle is a generic 2 platform through station on the Rutherglen to Coatbridge line.
The line, predominantly a freight line, was opened in 1865 with the station opening in 1866. In 1897 the station was upgraded to a junction station and gained to extra platforms when the line from Bridgeton joined here before the line split away and headed down to Newton.
The station closed in 1964 but the line stayed open for freight traffic. Nothing of the old station remains as it was demolished to make way for the M74. The current station was built and opened in 1993 along with others on this line.
The station sees 2 trains an hour each way, Eastbound towards Whifflet & Motherwell, Westbound towards Glasgow and beyond.
