Tanah Rata is the largest township of Cameron Highlands and is the administrative centre of this highland resort destination. The name "tanah rata" means flat ground in Malay and it refers to the relatively flat area on which the town is located amidst this highland region. It has an elevation of 1,440 metres (4,720 ft).
Tanah Rata features the most infrastructure and facilities while serving as the main hub receiving public transport from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Penang and Ipoh. It contains many facilities and amenities, including the bus and taxi terminus, district council, banks with ATMs, main Police Station of Cameron Highlands and the main hospital too. There are many hotels, resorts and apartments providing accommodation at town and surrounding countryside, including backpacker inns and lodges.
Taman Pertabalan is a recreational park with a clock tower that is located beside the bus teriminal of Cameron Highlands. I am not sure what is the significance of this clock tower is and whether it commemorates a certain event. Anyway, enjoy yourself relaxing at this park and watch the children run around the place.
