Vor dreißig Jahren war es die Heimatbasis von "Os Terriveis" - den Schrecklichen, der umstrittensten Einheit der südafrikanischen Verteidigungsarmee. Eine Horde besiegter angolanischer FNLA-Truppen (National Liberation Front), die vom legendären Col. Jan Breytenbach verschmolzen wurden zu einer Elitetruppe, die in Namibia, Angola und später in den Townships von Südafrika eine Blutspur hinterließ. Jetzt sind die Hunde des Krieges weg. Das Buffalo Camp und die Vila Breytenbach, einst West-Caprivi-Heimat des berüchtigten 32. Bataillons, kehren zur Natur zurück. Elefanten und Antilopen wandern zwischen den eingestürzten Bungalows und den verwüsteten Hallen der ehemaligen Basis. In der Nähe ist der Friedhof der gefallenen Soldaten überwuchert, verlassen und entweiht.

Mit diesem Cache möchten wir euch zu diesem verlassen Ort führen, den sich die Natur langsam aber unaufhaltsam zurückerobert. Ein Platz, mit tragischer Geschichte und einer hoffentlich andauernden, friedlichen Zukunft.

Der Cache befindet sich direkt an der Straße. Es gelten zu jeder Zeit die Regeln des Parks. Verhaltet euch entsprechend diesem Ort angemessen!
Wartung
Grundsätzlich denken wir, dass die Geocaching-Gemeinschaft in der Lage ist, diesen Cache zu warten. Daher bitten wir euch um folgendes:
Wenn das Logbuch voll ist, macht bitte Fotos davon, ladet es mit eurem Log hoch und ersetzt es, wenn möglich. Sollte die Dose verschwunden sein und ihr habt einen Ersatz dabei, dann ersetzt den Behälter, wenn euch dies möglich ist.

Thirty years ago it was the home base of “Os Terriveis" — the Terrible Ones, the most controversial unit of the South African Defence Force. A ragtag horde of defeated Angolan FNLA (National Liberation Front) troops, they were melded by the legendary Col Jan Breytenbach into an elite killing squad that left a trail of blood across Namibia and Angola, and later in SA’s townships. Now the dogs of war are gone. The Buffalo camp and “Vila Breytenbach”, once the West Caprivi home of the notorious 32 Battalion, is returning to nature. Elephant and antelope wander amid the collapsed bungalows and gutted mess halls of the former base. Nearby, the graveyard of fallen soldiers is overgrown, abandoned and desecrated.

With this cache we want to guide you to this abandoned place, which nature slowly but inexorably recaptures. A place with tragic history and a hopefully lasting, peaceful future.

Basically, we think the geocaching community is able to maintain this cache. Therefore we ask you for the following:
If the logbook is full, please take pictures of it, upload it with your log and replace a new one if possible. If the box is gone and you have a replacement, then replace the container if you can.
